SUMMIT Services – Big Lottery Funded!

SUMMIT has been successfully awarded Big Lottery Funding for a three-year project. Avril O’Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer at SUMMIT is delighted that they will now be able to deliver a bespoke service to people with mental health issues and learning disabilities from their SUMMIT House site in Clacton-on-Sea. There are two full time staff and two-part time members of staff in post to support this exciting new and innovative piece of work.

Noeleen Broughton has been appointed the ‘Project Coordinator’ and is able to draw on her vast experience of  work in this field.

SUMMIT Services will provide a variety of opportunities and organised groups to help and support people to become more in control of their own health and well-being. Mindfulness and Relaxation will now be a part of the curriculum together with other therapies such as art therapy. A duty advocate will be available daily to navigate people who need help through the health or social care system or to enable them to make that difficult telephone call. The duty advocate will help refer people to the appropriate services or signpost them where appropriate.We are very aware people often find this difficult to do on their own and often need a gentle hand. The whole project is about empowerment and people succeeding to reach their own SUMMIT.

SUMMIT Services will hold green gym sessions to enable people not only to become fit, but to lead fit, healthy and independent lives. Community Voluntary Services Tendring will also be a partner and provide a CV writing service to support clients wishing to get back into the work environment, giving them every opportunity of fulfilling their dream.
