SUMMIT Sanctuary is a new service for women who for a variety of reasons may be experiencing loneliness and isolation and wish to connect with others.
“SUMMIT Sanctuary” will provide a safe, confidential venue for vulnerable women to meet and connect with their peers, have the opportunity to become experts by experience, gain skills and improve their health and wellbeing.
We will provide weekly structured sessions focusing on building self-resilience through teaching confidence skills, empowering women to become self-advocates through accredited training. We will facilitate a weekly Women’s Action Group, where participants can explore and resolve issues through shared experience. These groups will be supported by qualified advocates whose role will be to ensure the group is user led, any identified issues are actioned and followed through.
This project has been supported by the Tampon Tax Community Foundation, which is managed by the independent grant making trust Essex Community Foundation (EFC). The fund was set up by the government with money raised through the levy on sanitary products and supports community projects that are working to improve the lives of women and girls.
