Happy Retirement to our Chief Executive Officer!

Our Chief Executive Officer Avril O’Sullivan MBE will be retiring on 31st December after more
than 25 years with SUMMIT (Tendring Mental Health Support).

Avril was one of the founders of formal Advocacy in Essex. Helping to ensure that adults with
Learning Disabilities had someone to speak up for them and they were empowered to lead
meaningful lives.

The organisation was formed from the recognition of the need for strong country-wide
partnership work and the provision of equitable and consistent advocacy support for all
vulnerable people.

Avril has worked tirelessly for the local and wider community of Essex and this dedication
was honoured in 2009 when Avril was awarded the MBE in recognition of her voluntary work
for adults with learning disabilities.

The SUMMIT team; staff, volunteers and trustees, would like to thank Avril for her
dedication, leadership and guidance and wish Avril a well-deserved and happy retirement.
