Role: Health and Inclusion Advocate

Contract type: 1 year (there maybe potential to extend the contract)

Full time post (part time will be considered)

Salary: £12.00 per hour (full time equivalent £23,400 per annum)

About us: SUMMIT (Tendring Mental Health Support) is an independent mental health charity with over 40 years standing, supporting people to have their voice heard whilst empowering them to communicate their needs and make informed choices. We are a small, but dynamic and a well-regarded charity, well-known for establishing new innovative projects. We are looking to recruit a dynamic and highly motivated individual to fulfil the role of a Health and Inclusion Advocate who will provide an independent voice to vulnerable and at-risk adults in Tendring and Colchester. Our ideal candidate will have worked in advocacy or a similar role and have a strong understanding of the health and social care sector.

About you: The person we appoint to the role will be a confident, resourceful, and motivated team player, able to work alone as well as part of a wider team, in partnership with clients and professionals. You must have a commitment to protecting the rights of some of the most vulnerable people in society. Successful applicants must have the skills to respond proactively to and engage with people with complex needs. Strong communication skills, time management skills and the ability to keep accurate and up to date records and you will need to be computer literate. Applicants must have a good working knowledge of key legislation and a broad range of experience in working with vulnerable people. An advocacy qualification (or other relevant qualification) is desirable but not essential.
