Starting salary: £29,250 per annum, pro rata if required

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and confident communicator to join our team as a Mental Health and Housing Peer Advocate. In this role, you will:

  • Provide formalised peer support to individuals living with mental ill health.

  • Offer practical assistance to help people navigate housing challenges and regain control over their lives.

  • Champion independence and self-determination, ensuring people feel heard, respected, and supported.



What You’ll Do

  • Work directly with individuals across Northeast Essex, tailoring support to their unique needs and aspirations.

  • Help people build confidence, access resources, and live their lives in the way they choose.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and community partners to create positive outcomes.

You will be…

  • Empathetic, resourceful and a motivated team player.

  • Able to work alone, within a team and in partnership with clients and professionals.

  • Committed to protecting the rights of some of the most vulnerable people in society.

  • Computer literate, great at record keeping and have good time management skills.

  • Be a good communicator.

  • Experienced in working with vulnerable people.

  • Have an understanding of the barriers facing people with mental ill health.

  • Know about local services and the support that could be helpful.



It would be great if you…

  • Are looking for a full-time position.

  • Love working in a fast-paced environment where you get to respond proactively.

  • Have experience working with and supporting vulnerable adults and have a health and social care qualification (or other relevant qualification). This isn’t essential though, as training will be provided.

  • Have a full driving licence.
