Role: Peer Support Worker (PSW)
Contract type: Permanent, full-time
Starting salary: £27,300 per annum, pro rata if required
Closing date: 29th September 2025

We are looking for a strong communicator to join our team as a Peer Support Worker. The PSW will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to people living with mental ill health, enabling them to regain control over their lives through sharing the wisdom of one’s own lived experience of recovery. Every day will be different as you support people in North East Essex to live their lives, the way they wish to.
You will be…
- Empathetic, resourceful, and a motivated team player
- Able to work alone, within a team, and in partnership with clients and professionals
- Committed to protecting the rights of some of the most vulnerable people in
society
- Computer literate, great at record keeping, and have good time management skills
- Be a good communicator
- Experienced in working with vulnerable people
- Have an understanding of the barriers facing people with mental ill health
- Know about local services and the support that could be helpful
- Expected to bring a lived experience perspective to the role.
It would be great if you…
- Are looking for a full-time position
- Love working in a fast-paced environment where you get to respond proactively
- Have experience working with and supporting vulnerable adults and have a health
and social care qualification (or other relevant qualification). This isn’t essential
though, as training will be provided
- Have a full driving licence
